【RUSSIA】JKA DAN EXAM, 29th ALL-RUSSIAN JKA SHOTOKAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
JKA DAN EXAM HELD BY USKO RUSSIA

On 23rd May 2024 USKO Russia (JKA Russia) held JKA Sho Dan exam (USKO Russia Examiners) and JKA Ni Dan & JKA San Dan online exams in Vidnoye city, Moscow Region.
84 candidates from 20 Regions of Russia successfully passed the JKA Sho Dan Exam which lasted 5 hours and was conducted by USKO Russia Dan Grading Commission chaired by JKA Examiner Alexander Latkin sensei. After the Exam USKO Russia President Dr. Ilya Gouliev sensei congratulated all its participants and wished them to always follow the Way of Budo, the JKA Karate Style, never to stop training and to improve their technique and sprit every day.
Grading for JKA Ni Dan & San was done online by Kurihara Kuzuali sensei. 18 candidates successfully passed Ni Dan and 13 candidates passed San Dan Exam.
The 29th ALL-RUSSIAN JKA SHOTOKAN CHAMPIONSHIPS dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of USKO Russia joining the JKA

On the 24th, 25th, 26th of May the 29th All-Russian JKA Shotokan Seniors Championships (18+ y.o.), the 30th All-Russian JKA Shotokan Juniors, Cadets and Children Championships (8-20 y.o.) and the 19th USKO Russia Veterans Cup (40+ y.o.) took place at the same “Vidnoye” Sporthall with a total of 856 competitors (1047 Individual Entries & 175 Team Entries) and 82 Judges from 37 Regions of Russia participating. The competitions lasted 3 days, 10 hours on 5 tatami each day. The Championships marked 30th Anniversary of USKO Russia joining the JKA in 1994 and 55 years since Dr. I. Gouliev started training Shotokan JKA sensei in 1969 in Brazil under his first teachers Tanaka Yoshitaka and Higashino Tetsumo.
At the Championships’ Opening Ceremony the USKO Russia Founder and President Dr. Ilya GOULIEV said that since 1994 when USKO Russia joined the JKA and the JKA World Federation it has always strictly followed the JKA Karate Style. During the Ceremony the Dr. I. GOULIEV sensei was awarded 6th Dan Diploma becoming the ever first person in Russia to be granted 6th Dan JKA.
Based on the results of the Championships, 83 Russian athletes were selected as the members of the Russian National Team participating in the “Funakoshi Gichin Cup” 16th Karate World Championship Tournament. Before flying to Japan they will undertake 2 two-week special training camps in August and September conducted by Dr. Ilya Gouliev sensei and the Russian National Shotokan Coaches Alexander Latkin sensei (kata) and Dmitriy Fomiriakov sensei (kumite).
