Japan Karate Association New Zealand recently hosted Shihan Tatsuya Naka from JKA Hq to conduct a series of training seminars in New Zealand. The training program commenced on 25th April and concluded on the 30th April 2023.

Three fantastic seminars started in the city of Christchurch, followed in Timaru and concluding in Ashburton in the South Island of New Zealand.

The second leg of seminars were hosted in the main city of Auckland. Two more intensive days of training followed by Dan and License examinations. A total of 250 karatekas from JKA New Zealand and other friendly karate organizations participated in this event. Indeed a proud day for JKA New Zealand !

Naka Shihan was instrumental in teaching basic Kihon with application. All the Heian katas were also covered in great detail for the junior belts.

Jiyu Kihon and Katas like Nijushiho, Tekki Nidan, Tekki Sandan, Kanku-sho were taught in the senior training sessions. Kata bunkai was explained in great detail with emphasis on practical kumite drills executed with partners.
All in all a fantastic experience for all who were present. A memorable experience learning under such a dynamic and charismatic Instructor.
