【Message from the Chairman of JKA】 Prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection
Prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection
Dear Overseas Members,
On April 7, the Japanese government declared a State of Emergency as the infection of Covid-19 is spreading globally, giving a significant impact on people’s lives. Members of the JKA are having difficulty to practice Karate under uneasy and restricted conditions.
Under the circumstances, the JKA have decided to cancel the 63rd National Karatedo Championships, which were scheduled to be held in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture in June, and the 63rd Elementary and Junior High School Karatedo Championships scheduled to be held in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in September. In addition, we have decided to postpone until next year, Funakoshi Gichin Cup the 15th World Karatedo Championships which was scheduled to be held in Takasaki City from October 23 to October 25.
We apologize for the inconvenience to those who have been preparing for these competitions, but what we are required now is that each and every one of us think and act properly as a responsible citizen. We would like to ask all JKA members to understand the seriousness of this situation and cooperate to prevent the spread of infection and ensure the health and safety for all of us.
We must be prepared to fight the Covid-19 for a long period of time. But if we work together, we will prevail and will be able to see a bright light of hope for the days to come. So we wish you to take special care not to give in to viruses, and we look forward to seeing you with a big smile again soon.
Sincerely yours,
Kusahara Katsuhide
Chairman
