【FRANCE】REPORT ON THE SEMINAR HELD ON MARCH 23RD AND 24TH, 2024, IN SAINT-JULIEN-EN-GENEVOIS (Haute-Savoie) in the French Alps
This seminar, which took place on March 23rd and 24th, 2024, in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, Haute-Savoie, in the French Alps, was led by three distinguished senseis: GNEO Sensei (8th dan, Belgium), Koichiro OKUMA Sensei (7th dan), and Maquaire Philippe Sensei (6th dan). For two consecutive days, European karatekas participated with enthusiasm and dedication.
**Introduction**:
The weekend was marked by classes held throughout the two days, punctuated by dan examinations and qualifications.
**Quantitative Report (participants in the seminar)**:
– 163 karatekas
– 74 black belts from 1st Dan to 6th Dan
– 18 brown belts from 3rd Kyu to 1st Kyu
– 37 colored belts from 7th Kyu to 4th Kyu
– 34 children of all ranks
**Techniques Taught by OKUMA Sensei, GNEO Sensei, and Maquaire Sensei**:
– Work on posture techniques:
– Anchoring position
– Initial position of movement
– Foot and body position during a change of direction
– Strength, speed, expansion & contraction in KATA.
– Work on hip techniques for different movements
– Work / Bunkaï katas:
– Tekki 1-2-3
– Jion
– Review and analysis of katas:
– Tekki 1-2-3
– Jion
– Hangestu
– Technical combat work
**Conclusion**:
This karate seminar was an extremely enriching and inspiring experience for the participants. It allowed for skill development and strengthened friendships among the participants.
