The year 2025 began on a high note for all Shotokan Karate practitioners in Bulgaria. Once again, we had the privilege and honor of starting the year with a technical seminar led by two of the most distinguished instructors of the Japan Karate Association (JKA). We were delighted to welcome Sensei Tatsuya Naka and Sensei Kazuaki Kurihara to Bulgaria, where they shared their expertise with participants from across the country and throughout Europe.

For the third consecutive year, these outstanding instructors guided and taught 230 practitioners from England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Estonia, Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, Israel, and, of course, Bulgaria. In addition to Shotokan enthusiasts, the seminar attracted colleagues from Goju Ryu, Shito Ryu, and Joshinmon Shorin Ryu, making it a truly inclusive and diverse event.

Under Sensei Naka’s leadership, participants reviewed the JKA Dan examination program and requirements—kihon, kata, and kumite. Beyond the standard curriculum, Sensei Naka also introduced the kata Nijushiho. Meanwhile, Sensei Kurihara highlighted critical elements in the katas required for testing—Bassai Dai, Empi, and Jion—and once again demonstrated key points in Gojushiho Sho. Practitioners ranked up to 4th kyu trained in a separate group under the supervision of both instructors, working through all the Heian katas as well as the kihon and kumite requirements for kyu examinations.

At the end of the seminar, a Dan examination was held, resulting in the successful promotion of five participants to 1st Dan, five to 2nd Dan, and three to 3rd Dan according to JKA standards. Following the rigorous training sessions, a social gathering allowed everyone to relax and enjoy a festive evening together.

We were also fortunate to host Sakura-san, the coach of the Japanese junior national rhythmic gymnastics team, who happened to be in Bulgaria at the same time. She joined the training to learn more about karate and even led one of the seminar warm-up sessions, much to the delight of all participants.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our instructors for their unwavering dedication, and we thank all the participants—from both abroad and Bulgaria—who helped make this seminar such a success. Recognizing its importance, we plan to hold this event multiple times a year in the future, continuing to bring karate practitioners together for high-level training and cultural exchange.

2025年は、ブルガリアの松濤館空手の修練者にとって素晴らしい始まりとなりました。私たちは今年も、日本空手協会を代表する著名な指導者お二人をお招きし、技術セミナーを開催する栄誉にあずかりました。今回ブルガリアでご指導いただいたのは、中達也先生と栗原一晃先生。ブルガリア国内のみならず、ヨーロッパ各国から参加した修練者に惜しみなく知識を共有してくださいました。

両先生は3年連続で指導にあたり、今回はイギリス、フランス、ドイツ、スイス、ハンガリー、イタリア、ルーマニア、エストニア、トルコ、ギリシャ、北マケドニア、イスラエル、そしてブルガリアから集まった合計230名の修練者を指導してくださいました。また、本セミナーには松濤館に加え、剛柔流、糸東流、常心門少林流といった他流派の方々にもご参加いただき、大変多彩な交流の場となりました。

中先生のご指導のもと、参加者はJKAの段位審査プログラムと要件である基本・形・組手について学び、さらに標準カリキュラムに加えて二十四歩の形を稽古しました。一方、栗原先生は、昇段審査に必要な形であるバッサイ大、エンピ、慈恩の重要ポイントを解説するとともに、五十四歩小の要点を改めて示してくださいました。また、4級までの修練者は別グループで指導を受け、両先生の監修のもと、平安形すべてと級審査に必要な基本・組手を丁寧に復習しました。

セミナー最終日には昇段審査が行われ、JKA基準により5名が初段、5名が二段、3名が三段に合格しました。稽古後には懇親会が開かれ、参加者同士が親睦を深める良い機会となりました。

ちょうど同時期に、日本の新体操ジュニアナショナルチームのコーチであるさくらさんもブルガリアに滞在しており、本セミナーに参加して空手に触れていただきました。またある日にはウォーミングアップのご指導もしていただき、参加者にとって大変貴重な経験となりました。

この度のセミナーを通じてご尽力いただいた両先生に、心より感謝申し上げます。海外からはるばるお越しくださった皆様、そしてブルガリア国内の参加者の皆様にも厚く御礼申し上げます。このセミナーは空手修練者が一堂に会する重要な機会であり、今後は年に数回の開催を目指して、一層充実した内容を提供していく所存です。
