WOOD DOJO: Unbroken loyalty and lineage to JKAHQ Est’ 1970.

JKAKDA Chief Instructor JIM WOOD MBE recently hosted and welcomed Master M. UEKI Shuseki Shihan Chief Instructor of the Japan Karate Association and Master K. SHIINA, this was their return visit to WOOD CUSTOM JKA DODO Mandurah Western Australia. Ten full classes were on offer for all grades throughout the week and private tuition from both JKAHQ masters was exceptional, creating a fantastic atmosphere, unlike large sports halls.

Other keen high profile JKA groups attended from Melbourne, Adelaide, Singapore, NSW and Perth. Because of the flight restrictions we were lucky to be the host for seven days. Classes scheduled all week for Kyu and Dan grades were full, with different students attending each day.

A youthful Master M. UEKI SHUSEKI SHIHAN as always, delivered the goods and was in great health and form at every lesson. Creating atmosphere with his amazing diligence regarding Kata, pointing out the importance of safety and the use of proper JKA Karate techniques. All the participants were totally impressed with Shihan Ueki’s speed and relative calmness especially teaching and performing his famous Mai -Geri.

Master K. SHIINA was explosive and could be scary as usual when teaching, especially with the Kumite lessons. Do not blink or his Mawashi Geri has landed Jodan no problem. Master Shiina was relentless in his manner and techniques to destroy the enemy JKA BUDO style, at the same time, still managing to share his teachings softly with fun for the younger children who loved the personal attention from this gentle iconic JKA master.

Examinations Pass:
1 x 6th Dan – 1 x 5th Dan – 2 x 3rd Dan – 1 x A. Instructor Licence.
This was a certificated Gasshuku with memorable photos taken all week in our Dojo and Japanese style garden, all our students were happy to line up and obtain the “JKAHQ Royalty” autographs. At the sad closing of this amazing and successful JKA Master Camp our VIP visitors were delighted at the standard and loved their presents and personal mementos from our members.

We are already planning a return visit in the future with these two JKA icons.
