Announcement of JKA BUDO TRAVEL
We, the Japan Karate Association, under the guidance of our founder, Grand Master Gichin Funakoshi, has been dedicated to the promotion and development of martial arts karate from Japan to the world.
As you may know, Grand Master Funakoshi hailed from a prestigious samurai lineage in Shuri and learned karate from masters such as Anko Itosu and Anko Asato, who were disciples of Sokon Matsumura. We understand that Master Funakoshi’s values as a warrior and the principles of karate align with the philosophies of traditional karate and ancient martial arts masters who have passed down their teachings through generations in Okinawa to the present.
Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the first time Grand Master Funakoshi performed Okinawan Kata on mainland Japan and began promoting it there. On this occasion, this tour was created in partnership with Ageshio Japan Co., Ltd., a travel agency specializing in Okinawa karate.
We would like to take this opportunity to have Japan Karate Association members, who represent the origin of Shotokan Style with millions of practitioners, visit the essence of Grand Master Funakoshi’s techniques and learn from the Okinawa brand in the birthplace of karate, while fostering exchange and interaction.
We hope that our members from both Japan and abroad will visit Okinawa in the future to learn the essence of traditional karate.
