【NEW ZEALAND】JKA New Zealand GASSHUKU, EXAMINATION & CHAMPIONSHIP – July 22nd & 23rd, 2023 with Sensei KARL NAOROJI
JKA New Zealand recently held the National Gasshuku, Referee Seminar, Kyu/Dan Examination & License Testing on Saturday, 22 & 23rd July 2023 in Auckland, New Zealand.
The two day program was conducted under the guidance of JKA HQ and JKA New Zealand Chief Instructor, Sensei Karl Naoroji.
This two day event was very well attended by JKA karatekas from all across the country. The regions that participated in this two day event ; Auckland, North Shore, Kapiti, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru and Dunedin.
Saturday 22nd July
Training seminars were held in the suburb of Howick, Cockle Bay in Auckland followed by the Kyu, Dan and License Testing. The Saturdaty’s program catered for all karateka ranging from Junior white belts to Senior Black Belts.
Kata’s – Heian Nidan to Tekki Shodan were taught in great detail to the junior level karatekas. The afternoon Seminar for Black belts included Kata’s Gojushiho Sho and Gankaku. Taught in details with application (Bunkai).
This was followed by Kyu Examinations conducted by Sensei Lizelle Pelser. The Dan & License Testing was conducted by Sensei Karl Naoroji – Chief Instructor, JKA New Zealand.
JKA New Zealand commend all karatekas for their hard work and dedication leading up to the examination and finding successful results.

In preparation for the JKANZ National Championships the following day, a Judge / Referees seminar with practical application was also organized.
Sunday, 23rd July
This was the day of the JKANZ National Karate Championships. JKA Clubs from all over New Zealand participated in the National Championships over the entire day and the results were satisfying.
There were 29 events in total for Boys, Girls, Women, Men & Veteran categories with a total of over 150 participants. Well done to all !
